If you’ve ever admired Barbie’s dress sense, then a collection has just been launched that you *need* to take a look at.
Wildfox has announced its Resort 14 Dreamhouse collection — basically life-sized versions of Barbie’s wardrobe from the late eighties *squeals*.
“As a girl who played with Barbie, the whole collection itself was inspired by my imagination come to life,” creative director, Kimberley Gordon, said; “I thought of what she and her friends would have really worn and saw them as eighties/nineties shabby chic.”
These stunning images of models Kirby Griffin (top) and Merethe Hopland (below) were shot by Mark Hunter and are supposed to show a day at home in Barbie’s Dreamhouse.
The collection includes geometric graphics, crew t-shirts, baggy jumpers and even cotton candy scented fabrics.
My favourite piece is the ‘My Resume’ t-shirt which features the Barbie logo on the front and a list of occupations on theback (Doctor, Lawyer, Teacher, Vet, Ballerina, Rockstar etc.)
With pricing from £58 to £268 these aren’t cheap pieces, but if you are interested you better move fast as only 500 pieces of each limited edition style have been made.
Behind the scenes
The UK launch of this collection took place at Selfridges London with waiters dressed up as Ken and a range of Barbie-inspired finger foods including mini swiss rolls, pink beetroot and goat’s cheese cones and salmon on rye bread cut into hearts.
Will you be picking up some pieces from the Barbie x Wildfox collection at Selfridges?
