Yardley London gets a modern makeover

What springs to mind when you think of Yardley? Lavender? The older lady? Talcum powder? Well be prepared to change those associations because Yardley has had a modern makeover and is ready to reveal itself.

Fresh for Spring/Summer Yardley will release the Contemporary Classics Floral Fragrance Collection which features English Rose, Lily of the Valley, April Violets and their longest-running bestseller, English Lavender.

Yardley classics

My absolute favourite from this collection is the English Rose eau de toilette, it’s really light and fresh, not overpowering at all. I was told at the press day lunch (see what I ate here) that the English Rose perfume has citrus and rose top notes and a heart which combines rose bud, magnolia, violet and cassis with warm woody notes, and a base of patchouli and musks.

Yardley_Body-Lotion_RANGE_BOTTLE_LRThe one thing I love more than the perfumes themselves is the scented lotions that match them.

The English Rose body wash, lotion and hand cream all contain rose water, shea butter, evening primrose oil and monoi oil, rich in essential fatty acids and antioxidant vitamin E to hydrate the skin. Prices for the Rose collection range from £3.99 – £14.99.

Kiri x Ink

Also launching in February 2015 are Kiri and Ink, modern fragrances for men and women. Kiri is a contemporary, sensual scent which is the latest addition to the women’s Signature fragrance collection that launched earlier this year.

Ink is a men’s fragrance inspired by Japanese calligraphic art. Developed by perfumer Jean-Charles Niel, the scent is a heady mix of citrus, wood, black pepper and bergamont. And yes I will be wearing it, in fact I like it more than Kiri. Smell like a man, act like a lady? Works for me!

All products are available at Boots, independent chemists and www.yardleylondon.co.uk.
