This beauty staple is the fanciest highlighter of them all. But this golden stick doesn’t just have beauty, it’s smart too.
I got colour matched at Debenhams and was taught how to use the product by one of the make up artists at the YSL counter. That’s when I realised everyone I knew was using it completely WRONG.
Effectiveness
As soon as I had this highlighter applied I could see the difference, now I’m not saying I looked like Kim K or anything *weeps* but it did what a highlighter is supposed to do. The make up artist applied it around the corners of my eyes, along my cheek bones, down the centre of my nose and on the cupids bow of my lips.
Convenience
Once you know what number/colour you are (this product comes in shades from 1 to 7) it’s pretty easy to buy either online or in store. It’s priced at £25 at Debenhams, but can be found cheaper on beauty websites and eBay.
It’s so easy to apply, when you first buy it, you’ll need to warm it up by clicking the button at the bottom around 35 times. After that, one or two clicks is enough to get the fluid going and highlight the main areas you want highlighted.
While it can be used as a concealer, it’s really designed for highlighting. Don’t shoot me! I’m just the messenger…
Ingredients
YSL’s Touche Éclat does not pretend to be an all natural beauty product, and it’s just as well because it does contain some questionables such as mineral oil and methylparaben. You can read more about the potential effects of parabens here.
The R Factor
Touche Éclat is so widely used that I don’t really need to spread the word about it. Of course there are cheaper highlighters – Sleek does a nice highlighting palate for next to nothing – but the packaging and ease of this product make it stand out… and all the celebrities they use to advertise it doesn’t hurt its popularity either.
