In my experience, trying out a new natural hairstyle can either end up in a ball of infuriating frizz or a sleek cascade of glossy curls.
While I can’t help you with the logistics of doing your own hair, I can provide you with some inspiration (or hairspiration, if you will…) for when you do want to try out something new.
5. The Pineapple
My absolute *favourite* bedtime hairstyle, which with a little care and attention, can be turned into a daytime, workout or evening look.
4. The TWA (teeny weeny afro)
Just undergone the ‘big chop’? This style is great if you’re in the process of growing your hair. Make sure your hair is nourished as this style can be really drying.
3. Ombre
Want to add some colour to your natural style? Ombre is a simple way to make a subtle change by dyeing the ends of the hair, without committing to a whole head of dye. It helps protect your precious roots, and it doesn’t matter when it grows out.
2. Braids
With Beyonce and Solange both donning this style earlier in the year, loads of natural girls have jumped on the bandwagon, using it to protect their natural hair while it grows.
1. The curly ‘fro
The bigger the hair, the harder they stare. Keeping hair natural will make it grow faster, and once it gets longer it should be easier to manage, so why not do it BIG with these huge curly styles?
