Impartial Review: Benefit’s Roller Lash Mascara

Dear reader, I have a confession to make. Until quite recently I had no idea eyelash curlers existed, and definitely did not know how to use them. So just when I had got to grips with them (literally) I hear from Benefit that I no longer need them at all… *sigh*.

I attended the launch of Benefit’s Curl’s Best Friend parlour on Feb 26, where I had my hair blow dried in a roller disco themed cafe on Greek Street, and got my hands on the brand new Benefit Roller Lash mascara.

The pop up parlour is now open to the public for cocktails, blow drys and brow treatments.

Smell

I really wouldn’t recommend going around sniffing mascaras, but rest assured I’ve done the hard work for you and this doesn’t smell too toxic.

Effectiveness

01 Curl the Hair

As you may have guessed by now if you’re a regular reader, I’m pretty cynical when it comes to ‘wonder products’ and I usually assume a product will be about 30% as effective as it says it will be.

But when I first applied Roller Lash I was actually shocked at how long it made my lashes look. I’ve been wearing my glasses a lot lately as I’ve run out of contact lenses (don’t ask) and I still noticed the different behind my glasses. My lashes sat there all smug, long and with a definite upwards curl.

Roller Lash is available online and at Benefit beauty counters at Boots, Debenhams and other department stores. It retails at a whopping ÂŁ19.50 which is a lot for 8.5 g of mascara in my opinion, but it’s no more expensive than their previous mascaras.

Ingredients

I love Benefit’s products and they really do do what they say they will, but the ingredients list is far from settling.

Lots of paraffins and ethanols went into the making of this mascara… definitely shouldn’t have smelt it earlier on…

The R Factor

R stands for recommend, of course! And I would recommend this product to someone who wanted quick, dramatic results. You can see the difference between this and a normal mascara – it definitely works.
