Finding the right nude nail varnish is to the millennial as finding the right red lipstick was to our mother’s generation.
There are so many different shades of ‘nude’ from pinky-nudes to browny-greys, it could take even the most diligent girl several months to find the perfect colour. That being said, I happened upon a pretty perfect shade at Boots completely by accident, and that’s where our tale begins…
I haven’t always worn foundation; back when I was about 13-years-old I had one compact of beige pressed powder I sometimes wore, and for special occasions I’d add some lipgloss.

Having a facial can be a somewhat daunting experience.
No matter how many scented candles are lit and eye wateringly expensive products are used, surrendering your bare face and any imperfections into the hands of a stranger will always be slightly nerve-wracking.
So how about getting that same quality facial at home?
I don’t know about y’all, but when I wake up in the morning I look and feel like a startled mongoose, and then usually by the time I get to work I look human-ish again. “How do you perform this amazing transformation?!” I hear you cry, well a large part of it is foundation.
Liquid foundation has a special place in my heart because it’s easy to apply and doesn’t leave my face all cakey and dry. This month I went to the UK launch of Australian brand, Nude by Nature and after I peeled myself away from the canape and cocktail table at the Charlotte Street hotel, I was talked through the make up range and colour matched (I’m W3, natural beige).
It’s surprising that this is even still a topic for discussion considering the how advanced modern cosmetics have become. But unfortunately it is still find hard to find darker shades of foundation for some women of colour.
So, here are some of the best make up brands that actually cater to darker skin tones…
On a list of things that Made in Chelsea‘s Rosie Fortescue holds dear, perfectly manicured nails is pretty high up. She changes her nail colour twice a week and thinks a good manicure is the perfect way to finish off a look (I’m inclined to agree).
So it’s no surprise that the reality star and writer has launched a 28 shade nail varnish range with Nailed London. The colours are inspired by Rosie’s love of high fashion, socialising and even her dog Noodle.
